Trail Running

Trail running takes running off the road onto paths, forest tracks and mountain terrain, from short local loops to ultra-distance races. This section covers trail shoes, running vests, lightweight jackets, poles, sport watches and headlamps. Shoes come first: choose grip and cushioning for the ground you run on most, and a fit that holds your foot securely. For longer races, read the organiser's mandatory kit list early, since it often names a waterproof jacket, a headlamp and a way to carry water, and may set rules on poles.
