Deuter is a German maker of backpacks and sleeping bags. It traces its origins to 1898, when Hans Deuter set up a sailcloth and linen weaving business in Augsburg-Oberhausen, Bavaria. The company moved its headquarters to Gersthofen in 1997 and has belonged to the Schwan-Stabilo group since 2006.
Its range covers hiking, trekking, climbing and ski touring backpacks, avalanche airbag packs, trail running vests, mountain bike backpacks and bikepacking bags, as well as down and synthetic sleeping bags. Deuter's backpacks are made in Vietnam by its manufacturing partner Duke, with which it has worked since 1991.
