Scott Sports traces its origins to 1958, when engineer and skier Ed Scott of Sun Valley, Idaho, made a ski pole from aluminium. The company expanded to Europe in 1978 and is headquartered in Givisiez, in the Swiss canton of Fribourg. South Korea's Youngone Corporation is its majority shareholder.

For ski touring, Scott makes touring skis such as the Superguide line, Cosmos touring boots, climbing skins, avalanche airbag backpacks, goggles and ski helmets. Its running range includes Kinabalu and Supertrac trail running shoes, running jackets, running packs and poles, and for cycling it offers bicycles, bike helmets and cycling apparel.
