United States · Founded 2009
Altra Running is an American footwear brand launched in 2009 by Golden Harper and co-founders Brian Beckstead, Quirl Hansen and Jeremy Howlett, after Harper began modifying running shoes in his father's shoe store in Orem, Utah. VF Corporation has owned Altra since 2018, and the brand is based in Denver, Colorado.
Its range centres on trail running shoes, including the Lone Peak, Olympus, Timp and Mont Blanc families, alongside low and mid-height hiking shoes with waterproof versions and road running shoes. Altra describes its shoes as zero-to-low drop designs; zero-drop models such as the Lone Peak have the heel and forefoot at the same height.
