Polar Electro is a Finnish maker of heart rate monitors and sports watches, founded in 1977 and headquartered in Kempele, Finland. Its founder, Seppo Säynäjäkangas, invented the first wireless EKG heart rate monitor, and the company is privately held.
For trail runners, hikers and cyclists, Polar makes GPS sports watches, including the outdoor-oriented Grit X2 series, heart rate sensors such as the H10 chest strap and the Verity Sense, and the Polar Flow app and web service for training data. Polar labels its watches as designed in Finland and made by Polar in China.
