Tents range from one-person shelters for long-distance walking to roomy family tents for campsites. Three-season tents suit spring to autumn, while four-season designs are built for snow loads and strong winds. Tunnel tents need pegging out to stand; freestanding domes do not, though both need pegging in wind. Check the floor area and porch space for the people and kit inside, and the packed weight if you will carry it.
