France · Founded 1860
Simond is a French mountain equipment brand from Chamonix. Its history begins in 1860 with Auguste Simond, a blacksmith; in 1870 his nephew Adolphe set up the first workshop on the Arve. Simond is part of the Decathlon group and keeps its design centre and factory in Chamonix.
The range covers ice axes, crampons, carabiners, quickdraws, harnesses, ropes, helmets, belay devices, climbing shoes, chalk, via ferrata gear and mountaineering boots, plus trekking tents, sleeping bags and mats, backpacks, poles, boots, waterproof jackets and merino clothing, as well as touring skis, skins, avalanche shovels and headlamps. The brand states that every metal product is made and hand-assembled at its Chamonix site.
