VAUDE was founded in 1974 by Albrecht von Dewitz, whose initials gave the brand its name. The family-owned company is headquartered in Tettnang near Lake Constance in southern Germany and has been led by his daughter, Antje von Dewitz, since 2009.
VAUDE makes rain, insulated and fleece jackets, base layers, trekking trousers, hiking and trekking backpacks, tents, sleeping bags and sleeping mats. For cycling and bikepacking it offers bikepacking bags, panniers, mountain bike backpacks, cycling clothing and cycling shoes. Some of its bike bags and backpacks are made at the company's own production site in Tettnang.
