Mountaineering boots
Mountaineering boots are stiff, often insulated boots designed to take crampons. Many are graded B1 to B3: B1 for strap-on crampons, B2 for hybrid crampons with a heel lever, and B3 for fully rigid boots that take step-in crampons. Consider insulation for the altitude and season, and a gaiter or integrated cuff against snow. Fit them with your mountaineering socks.
