Avalanche airbags

Avalanche airbag packs inflate a large balloon when triggered, to help keep a person caught in an avalanche nearer the surface. They add to, rather than replace, a transceiver, probe and shovel. Consider the trigger system: compressed-gas cartridges must be refilled or replaced after each deployment, while electric fan systems can be test-fired and deployed more than once. Check the pack volume for your tours, and practise pulling the trigger.
