Germany · Founded 1921
Hanwag is a German maker of mountain and hiking footwear, founded in 1921 by Hans Wagner in Vierkirchen, Bavaria, where the company is headquartered. In 2004 the family-run business was sold to the Swedish group Fenix Outdoor.
Its range covers mountaineering boots, approach shoes, hiking boots and low-cut hiking shoes, winter boots and hiking socks, with some models made in wide, narrow and bunion fits. Hanwag produces only in Europe: its most demanding models are made in Vierkirchen, with a further production site in Croatia and an upper-stitching workshop in Hungary.
