Edelrid
Germany · Founded 1863
Edelrid is a German maker of climbing ropes, mountaineering equipment and fall-protection gear. It began in 1863 as a cord and braid factory in Isny im Allgäu, where the company is based. In 2006 it was taken over by Albrecht von Dewitz, founder of VAUDE, and it is part of the VAUDE Group; the climbing shoe brand Red Chili has operated under the Edelrid umbrella since 2017.
Its climbing range includes dynamic ropes, harnesses, helmets, carabiners and quickdraws, belay devices, via ferrata sets, crampons and ice axes, and chalk bags. Edelrid produces its mountain sports ropes, static ropes and accessory cords in its own rope factory in Isny.
