Edelweiss
France
Edelweiss is a rope brand with Austrian roots: the company traces the first rope in its lineage to Austria in 1790. The French rope maker Béal acquired Edelweiss in 1999, and the brand's company, Edelweiss SAS, is registered in Pont-Évêque in the Isère department, where Béal also has its headquarters.
Its range covers dynamic ropes for climbing, canyoning and caving, static ropes and accessory cords, harnesses, carabiners and belay devices, with separate lines for sport and for professional work at height. Edelweiss dates its first core-enclosed rope, a separate core inside a braided sheath, to 1953.
