Wild Country was founded in the Peak District in 1977 by British climber Mark Vallance to manufacture the Friend, a camming device invented by American climber Ray Jardine. Italy's Oberalp Group bought the brand in 2012, and Wild Country has since relocated to Bolzano.
Its range covers trad climbing protection, with Friend cams and Rock nuts, as well as carabiners, quickdraws, harnesses, helmets, belay devices and Ropeman ascenders, chalk bags and liquid chalk, climbing packs and climbing clothing for sport, trad and alpine climbing.
