ABUS (August Bremicker Söhne KG) is a German security technology company founded in 1924, when August Bremicker and his sons began making padlocks in the cellar of their home in Volmarstein. The family-owned company has its headquarters in Wetter (Ruhr), North Rhine-Westphalia, and also makes door security products, alarm systems and video surveillance equipment.
For cyclists, ABUS makes bicycle helmets for road, off-road and urban riding and for children, alongside a range of bicycle locks. In 2021 ABUS took over the Italian helmet manufacturer Maxi Studio, with which it had worked since 2016.
